Lodges in Masai Mara Game Reserve

The Mara Serena Safari Lodge

Secreted deep within the Masai Mara National Reserve, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge is the ultimate safari destination.

Set high on a bush-cloaked hill, embraced by arcing vistas and washed by a sea of richly rolling grasslands, it stands centre-stage to one of Africa 's most dramatic wildlife arenas and has a ringside seat for the greatest wildlife show on Earth, the legendary migration of the wildebeest.

Drawing its inspiration from the traditional Maasai cultural motif of a cluster of domed, mud-coloured huts encircled by a "Boma" of brushwood, the Mara Serena offers a rare blend of raw African splendour and sumptuous sophistication.

The essentially ethnic décor also draws on a vibrant colour-palette of sun-burst colours, embellished by a unique selection of Maasai art to create the look and feel of a traditional bush encampment.

The lodge features individual rooms, each with their own balcony and view of eternity, a sky-blue swimming pool and a spectacular restaurant, overlooking a water hole where a fantasia of creatures collect to drink.

Sarova Mara Game Camp

Located within the world famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Sarova Mara Game Camp's 75 tents capture the true spirit of the Kenyan wild, in Kenya's richest game reserve.

Greatly renown for its annual wildebeest migration, Big Five, Sarova Mara offers a breathtaking view of the plains aloft a hot air balloon.

Mara Sopa

Located on the slopes of Oloongams Hills, it is one of the first lodges to be built in the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Mpata Safari Club

Mpata Safari Club sits high on the edge of the Oloololo escarpment with panoramic views across the Masai Mara Plains, adjoining the Masai Mara National reserve, i.e.," Kingdom of Wild Life in East Africa The Club House is located in the middle of 23 separate cottages which extend like a bird wing.

The architecture of Mpata Safari Club was designed by Edward Suzuki, acclaimed as one of the best architects in Japan . From each separate shirring shape unit, you can see the sun rise from the horizon of the Savannah .

Mpata Safari Club co-ordinated with environment in Masai Mara, was voted the best safari lodge in Kenya by The Kenya Assosiation of Travel Agents in 1996.

In the Club House we have the reception, restaurant, library and bar, igniting panoramic view, and the swimming pool commanding the great grassland. The pleasure of your sundowner cocktail can be escalated by the sundowner bar set out in a well and naturally landscaped garden.

Guests stay in 23 separate cottages well-spaced along the top of the escarpment. There are 11 Suites and 12 Delaxe units, each with interlocking curves separating bedrooms, bathroom and verandahs. The chief feature of the deluxe room is the panoramic sweep of the Mara which you can see from your bed.

The suites have similar views and are larger with a lounge, kitchenette and, best of all, a Jacuzzi. The units are reached by stone pathways meandering between indigenous bush and trees which help to soften the tower like structures.

Stretching almost a kilometer along the river the grounds on the bank remain in their virgin condition, while the landscaped gardens filled with indigenous trees at the back draw a great variety of birds and butterflies.

The lodge was conceived with an emphasis on exclusivity and comfort. It was designed to complement its surroundings and is decorated in Maasai traditional style. Wide, well-lit pathways connect the Public areas and rooms. At the Mara Simba, special care is taken to conserve the environment.

The Mara Simba is the only truly environment friendly lodge in Kenya as it is the first to install a sewage treatment plant. The plant provides crystal clear water that is used for irrigation.

Siana Springs

Situated at the base of the Ngama Hills, on the eastern edge of the Maasai Mara Reserve, Siana Springs occupies a lush indigenous forest watered by the largest natural springs in the Mara ecosystem - Siana or the "plentiful" springs in Maa.

The camp's location in the heart of the Siana Group Ranch offers guests unique opportunities for thrilling walking safaris, night drives and fly-camping along the seasonal streams beneath the Ngama Hills, while our hosts will also treat you to uniquely uncontrived interpretive tours of their manyattas, cattle bomas, cultural and community facilities.

Accomodation

This special tented camp offers 38 spacious tents situated in three secluded ‘wings': the Bamboo Wing, surrounded by bamboo groves and flowering ornamental trees near the main camp; the Palm Wing, overlooking a series of springs, lily-clad ponds and lush indigenous forest; and the Acacia Wing, which occupies more open acacia woodland rich in birdlife on the camp boundary.

The tents boast the very latest in modern camping, with large single or double beds, personal closets and writing desks, and en suite bathrooms with flush toilets and steaming hot showers.

Mara Intrepids

Sitting above a sweeping bend in the Talek River, at the confluence of the Maasai Mara's four game-viewing areas, the camp enjoys one of the most spectacular locations in the entire Mara ecosystem.

Intrepids is a short drive from the Mara River, where up to one-and-a-half million wildebeest and zebra make their perilous migration crossing every July and August. The camp itself is divided into four distinct areas, with separate dining areas and ‘mess tents' ensuring exclusivity for larger groups travelling together.

An Intrepids safari offers a unique game-viewing adventure, including three daily game drives with our experienced guides, educational outings with our famous Adventurers' Club, and trips to Maasai villages where we support several community development projects.

Kichwa Tembo

Kichwa Tembo is situated at the foot of the Oloololo Escarpment on the western border of the Masai Mara Reserve in southwestern Kenya.
